FAQ

Should you wear a full implant set or mix pieces?
Geisteskrankenchan, a KIBORG team member replying in Steam discussions, says implants are balanced to be equally fun as a mix or as a complete set. He also says every set gives a bonus when you wear each of its parts, and that Sovereign is especially good at boosting other implants.
Why does the final boss take so little damage?
According to KIBORG team member Geisteskrankenchan, bosses have a damage buffer to stop you killing them too quickly, which he calls a band-aid against overpowered sets. His tip is to stagger a boss with the Ki Explosion super attack, then shoot it with your primary gun while it is down.
How do you unlock Endless Mode?
Defeat the final boss and you get an option to keep playing, per KIBORG team member Geisteskrankenchan (August 2025). Steam news from 14 June 2025 says the same: after defeating Novak you can continue your run in Endless Mode. He also says each Endless floor raises enemy damage and attack speed.
What do the colored skulls on doors mean?
KIBORG team member Geisteskrankenchan lists three skulls: green for normal enemies, orange for minibosses and red for bosses. He also says the angrier-looking skull is a guaranteed miniboss.
Can you check implants and mutators before a run?
Only partly. Pressing I or Tab opens an information menu, but KIBORG team member Geisteskrankenchan says it covers the currently equipped items only. There is no full compendium to plan against.

Your first KIBORG runs are about hub upgrades, reading door icons and learning that bosses do not melt like trash mobs. The clearest answers come from KIBORG team member Geisteskrankenchan (his Steam profile says he works on the game as a 3D animator), who replied to a long beginner question thread in November 2025. This page lays out what that thread and the official Steam patch notes confirm, and marks everything else as player-reported.

What should you do first in KIBORG?

Play on a lower Tower difficulty while you unlock the hub skill tree. Steam achievement text tracks Tower clears from Difficulty 2 up to Difficulty 7, and the difficulty guide explains the ladder.

Each run pays out data, the currency for permanent upgrades. One independent review, Gazettely (May 2025), describes data as the meta-currency spent on a visible skill tree: implant mastery, health, resistances and combo unlocks. After you finish the whole tree, the 15 June 2026 patch notes add infinite improvements you can keep buying, with the price doubling each purchase: data gain, max health, starting armor, starting ammo and starting tokens.

Should you mix implants or wear a full set?

Both are intended to work. KIBORG team member Geisteskrankenchan says the implants are balanced to be equally fun as a mix or a complete set, that every set grants a bonus when you equip each of its parts, and that Sovereign is especially good at boosting other implants. A 30 May 2025 patch also made implant primary stats, such as Guardian shields or Thundergod energy, available from the start of the game.

Gazettely, written around launch, says a run offers only a handful of implant picks across seven slots (head, torso, two arms, legs, spine, heart), so rejecting an offer is a gamble. Treat that as launch-era color: the 30 April 2026 patch notes say implant drops are now fully random.

For set-by-set detail see the implants list and the best builds comparison.

Why do bosses take so little damage?

KIBORG team member Geisteskrankenchan answered a player who went from one-shotting every room to “pitiful damage” on the last boss: bosses have a damage buffer to prevent you from killing them too quickly. He calls it a band-aid to counter overpowered sets.

His own tip for staying effective is to use the Ki Explosion super attack to stagger the boss, then shoot it with your primary gun while it is down. He adds that you can still combine different combos and weapons to maximize damage. The final boss guide collects the rest of what is documented.

What do skull doors, Endless Mode and the I/Tab menu tell you?

  • Skull colors: green for normal enemies, orange for minibosses, red for bosses. The angrier-looking skull is a guaranteed miniboss.
  • Endless Mode: defeat the final boss and you can continue. Each floor increases enemy damage and attack speed, which is why parrying gets harder the longer you go.
  • Information menu: press I or Tab. It lists only your currently equipped items, so it will not help you plan a build in advance.

What changed that older guides may miss?

  • Melee area attacks no longer consume weapon durability (15 June 2026).
  • Implant drops after Arena 3 were fixed in a June 2025 hotfix, so agents drop implants once you finish Arena 3 and enter the Tower.
  • Declining a mutation now stacks only positive effects (17 June 2025). The mutators guide covers it.
  • Modifiers arrived on 5 November 2025: game modes cost 75,000 data and cheat modifications cost 100,000, so they are late-game sinks, not a beginner target.
